Every night Chris and Clara "talk about something" before she goes to sleep. It started off as Chris telling Clara stories about when he was a little boy. ( I am amazed at the things he remembers from his childhood.) Lately he has started teaching her hymns. She LOVES this time with her daddy.

We took the girls to the miniature horse show today. Clara loved looking at all the horses. Allie was more interested in the puppies someone was trying to sell and Allie "moo"ed at all the horses. I thought the horses were cute but I did not want to touch them. Clara said, "Touch it's nose, mama, it is soft". I told her I would just watch her touch it.

My mom and I took the girls to the Pumpkin Patch on Halloween day when there was only about 3 pumpkins left. But the girls had fun. Then that night we went to Trick My Trunk at church. I was cheap once again and dressed my girls in something we already had. I figured this will be the last year that Clara will not have an opinion on what she wants to wear for Halloween.

Allie is 9 months old today. She is a very happy baby especially if she's on her mama's hip and not hungry or sleepy. Like Clara, she will probably never crawl because she has a HUGE fit if you put her on her tummy. I think she is going to be our strong willed child. Clara is very compliant and loves to make you proud except for going to the potty. She fusses if you say "Let's go use the potty". Other than that she is showing all the signs that it is time to potty train.

I have been keeping Hadassah now for 3 weeks. It is going well. Clara and Hadassah go to Mother's Day Out on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We got a new Carousel at the Mall. Clara loved it and had to ride it 3 times.

Clara and Allie took a bath together for the 1st time. Right away, Clara took a wet wash cloth and put it over Allie's head so Allie did not like the bath at all.

I don't have any pictures to show but the girls and I went to Shreveport this past week and had a great time. I saw Bekah, Ashley, Lindsey, and David and Allison Granger along with everyone's kiddos. It was so good to spend time with long time friends. Bekah, Ashley and I even went out to dinner without our kids. What a HUGE treat!!!!

Update on Allie

Monday we took Allie to the Nephrologist and still the most common treatment for urine reflux is to take a low dose antibiotic everyday to prevent infection. So this is what we will do and have been doing since she got the UTI a month ago. If she has a break through infection then Allie will probably have to have the procedure done. The best news is that Allie has been very pleasant for the last few days. I don't know if it's that she is getting older or if God is answering my prayer for mercy. Either way I will give God the glory!!!!!!! Thank you, Lord!

Clara is 2 years old

Yesterday was Clara's 2nd birthday! The morning began with the nursery at church calling me because Clara had fever. Since we had planned a party for her at the park for the afternoon, I took Clara to the after hours pediatric clinic and fortunately she only had an ear infection. So she got a shot and took a long nap then was ready to party. The "little" party was lots of fun. After only a few pictures, the batteries in my camera died. Thanks to my friend Michelle I should have some more later.

Allie was diagnosed with urine reflux a couple of weeks ago. We are going to a pediatric kidney doctor today to see what kind of treatment needs to be done. In the past kids with urine reflux take a low dose of antibiotics everyday to prevent infection but now there is a non invasive procedure that can be done to correct it. Hopefully, this will help Allie feel better and be a less fussy baby. Even though these pictured make her look like a very happy baby she is still high maintaince. I am not sure if she is just spoiled or is actually uncomfortable.

Allie is almost 3 1/2 months old and I feel like I am getting a little life back. She still has a sensitive tummy so I have to watch what I eat. A little pig is what she is though-she likes to eat every 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 hours but she sleeps 9 to 10 hours at night. Clara still loves Allie and Allie smiles so big when Clara talks to her. Clara loves to get into anything that is Allie's. They are really going to enjoy each other in a few months.

For the last 3 weeks one or all of us(except Allie-thank the Lord) has been sick. Clara has been at my parents for the last 2 nights so I could get some rest. I had to share the sweet pictures my mom sent me.

Allie is 2 months today. She weighed 10 pounds 12 ounces at her 2 month well visit. It has been a tough 2 months for her with colic, reflux, a double ear infection, and RSV. But thankfully her lungs are now clear and her ears look good. She is still going to sleep on her own really well for naps, but we have to hold her pacifer in for her to go to sleep at night. Most nights she sleeps from 10 pm to somewhere in the 6 am hour. So I guess I can't complain too much.

I have been working to get Allie to go to sleep by herself but she usually SCREAMS for an hour when I put her in her bed awake(then I can't take it anymore so I go get her). I read an article about putting something that makes white noise in the baby's room to help them go to sleep. So yesterday morning I put a fan in Allie's room for her nap and she went right to sleep. And the same thing happened for 2 of her other naps and for her 1st nap this morning. I can't believe that is all it took. Hopefully, I am not celebrating too early.

Alle is doing well. She is gaining weight quickly(she was 8 pounds and 12 oz on Sunday) and sleeping well at night(usually wakes up once to eat) She is a fussy baby though(My babies have colic). Oh, well-she will not be a newborn forever-THANK THE LORD!!!!

I was talking to one of my sisters and she mentioned that she's been checking this blog for pictures of the girls but she hasn't seen as many as we posted with just Clara. I told her that, with two kids, it's not as easy to post pics as it was with one child. She said that I should now, finally understand why there are so few pictures of me as a baby. My parents had six kids, of which I am the youngest. My three oldest siblings have complete photo albums full of pictures from their early years. There are fewer pictures of the younger three, and very few pictures of me. My parents always said it was because the camera broke. I now know the truth :)

So, here a few pictures we took today.

While Allie and her mom went to Elizabeth's women's mentoring group during the Super Bowl, Clara and I stayed home and had our own Super Bowl Party. Here's Clara in the football pajamas that her Uncle Phillip and Aunt Robin gave her for Christmas.

Thank you, Chris, for the last 2 updates. Maybe he will continue to put in his 2 cents. We are doing well but my applause goes out to you all who have more than 2 kids. Allie sleeps well especially during the day. But she has done pretty well at night also. Clara was pretty jealous when she came home from my parents on Thursday but I think she is starting to adjust "a little" to sharing our attention. Fortunately Clara has been very sweet to Allie. Elizabeth and Allie are sitting in the hospital ready to go home. As soon as the doctors say it's OK, we're out of here. Elizabeth always recovers quickly from these surgeries. She and Allie are doing great.

I have a c/section scheduled for Monday, January 14th. This little girl still has no name. Clara moved into her new room the day after Christmas. It is still a work in progress but every 1 year old needs a fireplace in her room. Clara's favorite place to play is in her new closet.

I had written an update but blogspot was not responding at the time so it did not save. So I will give a little update now.

Only about 5 weeks until we have another baby and I know these next few will go really fast. We almost have Clara's new room all ready for her. We are going to move her into her new room right after Christmas so she will get used to it before her sister comes. The baby does not have a name yet. We had a few options but we are now rethinking those. So we are going backwards in the name game.

Clara has been with my parents since Thursday morning. It has been so nice to jump out of the car and run in a store. Even though time alone is nice, I sure do enjoy having her with us. Thursday night we went to a couple's dinner and Bible Study. Then Friday night we went to go see Game Plan which I like(and cried) but it was definitely made for a younger crowd. We are getting our little pumpkin back this morning. Here is a picture of Clara while staying with GiGi and Pop-Pop. And some pictures of my nephew and nieces from my mom's last visit.

I was not planning to do anything for Halloween because we don't live in a trick or treating neighborhood. But for the first time our church did a Trick or Trunk. Clara did not understand the concept at first. She would go to a trunk and get candy then sit down right there on the ground and try to eat it. Finally, she realized if she went to the next car she would get more candy. Clara has not really ever had candy so she ate a little of it but of course we will eat most of it(suffering for your children). I was too cheap to buy a costume so this is my nephew's old costume which I had to make look a little girly.

I did not realize it had been a month since I posted. We have been busy. We are trying to get Clara's new room and bathroom ready for her to move in towards the end of the year so she will not feel kicked out to the nursery. Then my sister and her family were in town for a few days(I failed to get any pictures). Then I got a stomach bug but all is well now. Last Friday Clara and I went to a friend's house for a hayride so I will share a few pictures from that day.

doesn't have to stay in Vegas. Imagine this- we did not do anything we are ashamed of while vacationing in Las Vegas. We did not even pull one slot machine or buy any souvenirs except for some fudge for my sweet parents who kept Clara. But we did have good time away and enjoyed seeing some shows which is the main reason we chose Las Vegas. Stomp Out Loud was great and Cirque Du Soleil KA was entertaining but kind of weird. No pictures were taken in Vegas but my parents did take some of Clara which I will share.

We found at this morning that we will be having another little girl. We are very thankful that she looked good and healthy on the ultrasound. I will have to see if I can scan in one of her 3D pictures. She would not cooperate and look at the camera though so we don't have a very good picture of her face. But the 3D pics are still amazing.

Today Clara is one year old. We celebrated her birthday last Sunday while my sister and her kids were in town. The party included my family and Chris' family. At first, Clara was not real sure what to do with her cupcake. She put her hand in the icing(which was just cool whip) then reached up to me as if to say "my hand is dirty". I put her fingers in her mouth then she was hooked. She ate the whole thing.

We are playing normal people's version of Oprah's favorite things at my MOPS group in a few weeks. It is supposed to be something that is less than $10. So I have been trying to figure out what I am going to take. Since the main thing I miss from my pre-baby life is having time to enjoy a good fiction book, I am thinking about taking "The Princess" by Lori Wick (it is my ALL-TIME favorite). That is unless you have some better ideas for me.

Chris and Clara spent time together this weekend while I went to Shreveport to see Beth Moore. They did great of course. I was excited about coming home because I thought Clara would be excited to see me like she is when Chris comes home from work. But when I got home I picked her up and she reached for her daddy. We went to Little Rock on Saturday for my friend Alee's wedding. It was a very sweet wedding. I am very excited for her because she is a few years older than me and has been looking for Mr. Right for a long time. Her husband works for Family Life and seems to be a very Godly guy and absolutely crazy about her.

We also visited Gran Jo. Gran Jo's house was our home away from home when Noah was in Arkansas Children's hospital. She is an amazing lady and a blessing in our lives. We are preparing to have Chris' sisters and their kids in this week. I am excited because I always enjoy their visits and at this point in my life it is so fun to have adults around.

Clara is growing up too fast. She took about 7 steps by herself yesterday but prefers to hold just one of your hands to walk. She is also very nosy. One evening I was loading the dishwasher and Chris and Clara came up behind me. Clara was practically falling out of Chris' arms trying to figure out what I was doing. Then she gently pushed me out of the way so she could see. We both cracked up.
